About us
We are MY team – working together to provide compassionate, expert care that makes a difference to the lives of our patients and their families.
Mid Yorkshire is a local Trust providing compassionate, expert care for over half a million people every year, in their homes, in the community and across our three hospital sites at Pontefract, Dewsbury and Pinderfields.
We believe everyone matters. We recognise everyone has unique experiences, and we strive to give care that meets each person’s needs. Our staff are as diverse as the communities we serve. And we believe we are stronger when we celebrate, value and support our differences.
We believe if our staff are happy, our patients experience will be positive. We’re listening, learning and improving because we aim to make Mid Yorkshire the best place to work and the best place for care. We support each other through the good and challenging times.
We have asked our staff what they are looking for in their new CEO. Their answers, below, demonstrate how important they believe the personal values of the CEO are to our success. These answers have also shaped this recruitment process.
And we’re proud to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families.
Our vision, mission and values
We believe it’s important to set out clear goals for the Trust so that every member of the Mid Yorkshire team knows what we are aiming for and how they contribute.
The Trust undertook a major listening exercise with our staff, patients and partners, which has resulted in our vision, mission and objectives, providing clarity around our purpose, priorities and aligning the resources of the Trust in order to achieve our ambition of providing an excellent patient experience each and every time.

Our partnerships
Good partnership working is essential to deliver better health and social care to local communities. The Trust works hard to develop and transform services in partnership with other acute trusts, local Primary Care Networks, local authorities, the third sector and other providers.
As an active member of the West Yorkshire Integrated Care System (ICS), the Trust proactively leads key programmes of work and has adopted leadership roles within the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT).
Our key partnership priorities are:
- Working with the Integrated Care System to develop the future governance within West Yorkshire and Harrogate.
- Continue to develop relationships with local Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in Wakefield and North Kirklees to improve patient pathways.
- Play a leading role in the development of the Integrated Care Partnerships (ICP) in Wakefield and Kirklees.
- Continue to work with Wakefield and Kirklees Integrated Care Board (ICB) in delivering shared services.
- Work with WYAAT members to further develop procurement services across the acute Trusts.
- Alongside other WYAAT trusts continue to develop clinical networks
- Working with Independent Sector organisations to support the reduction of Trust waiting times for elective services.
